Blurt is a social blockchain. The chain stores signed operations, while websites display them as posts, replies, votes and profiles.
What happens when I publish?
- Write your post in a frontend such as Blurt.blog.
- The app prepares an operation containing the author, unique post identifier and content.
- Sign the operation using the appropriate permission.
- Once the operation is included in the blockchain, other compatible services may read it.
Why are RPC nodes needed?
RPC nodes provide API access to data and accept signed operations. When one RPC server is unavailable a frontend may become slow even if the chain remains accessible through other nodes. Troubleshooting →
Who are witnesses?
Witnesses participate in block production and network infrastructure. Their responsibilities and selection follow blockchain rules; they are not necessarily administrators of the websites you visit.
Blockchain versus frontend
The chain provides shared records; each website defines its own presentation, caching and optional features. Compare frontends →
Where are images stored?
Pictures are often hosted on separate image services and linked from the on-chain post. An unavailable image host can break a picture without changing the original post text. Images and Markdown →
