Blurt keys and Master Password — safety guide

Blurt account security is based on Master Password and cryptographic keys. This is important because blockchain accounts do not work like standard web accounts with a simple administrator password reset.

Master Password

Master Password is the main password generated when creating the account. It can be used to derive account keys, so it should be stored with extra care and not used for everyday login.

Owner key

Owner key is the most important account key. It is used to change other keys and recover control over the account.

Active key

Active key is used for higher-permission actions, especially financial operations such as transfers, Power Up and Power Down.

Posting key

Posting key is the best key for everyday use. It allows you to publish, comment and vote without giving full control over funds.

Memo key

Memo key is used for encrypted memos and messages.

The simplest rule: use posting key daily, active key for wallet operations, and keep owner key plus Master Password offline.
