Hello Blurt.

My name is Nana Eraba and I’m a Ghanaian. I currently reside in Accra, Ghana and things are kinda demanding for me right now. I'm done with college but doing more studies in data science. It's a side studies actually. It’s so hot here already and by the time I get to class, I’m exhausted already. I have to walk through the campus which is under the sun already. I get so wet just by the time I sit down at my desk and try to focus for my lectures and assignments.

I have a lot of homework to do so I am always a step behind in my textbooks. Most of the time I am up until 1 or 2 am in my room studying. I have to be very quiet so I don’t wake up my roommate. I have to use my phone’s flashlight to read my notes.
I start my day by having breakfast prepared by a lovely roadside lady who treats me like her second child. She always asks me to study hard and to make her proud. She makes me food that I can take to class and most of the time she even gives me a large portion of gari without me even paying for it because she remembers me.

For me though, money is a concern. If I reach the roadside lady’s stand a bit late, there are already a host of people in front of me, and by the time I get served, it would have been too late to have had breakfast. Most of my school mates are also from low-income backgrounds, but my family and I aren’t as poor as most. I come from a below the middle class background but we’re a little better off than most.
So it’s not so much the fact that I haven’t had money to buy school materials or food etc that’s a concern for me. Rather it’s the fact that school in general costs so much, how to budget for transport, for food provisions that I’d have brought along from home, and so on.
For now I'll keep on writing in my personal diary, instead of publishing these real life experiences on a website I'd set up to publish articles independent of this blog. You might call that old fashioned. I learned it from old high school movies. Funny enough, I already mentioned my personal diary in another post on this website. The only other person who knows about this diary is my best friend Benedicta.
Until recently, starting my own independent website was a goal of mine. But finding a home on Blurt is way more valuable than that. I'm choosing to pr
