Hi! Welcome back to another post! If you looked at my last three posts, I only baked cakes at my baking class. Finally I get to make something different!

I made this roll...thing... I don't really know what to call it, because its creation is confusing.
If you look in the middle of the roll, you will see the spongy cake, but is it even a cake? It is the complete wrong shape and closer to a cinnamon roll than anything else. Let's see what Wikipedia has to say about this...
Well, Wikipedia didn't give me anything, and the same with plenty of other websites, and I'm not really in the mood to fall down a rabbit hole, so I just decided to go with my good ol' buddy ChatGpt.
I asked it, "What are the qualifications for a dough to become a cake? Does shape matter?"
After a bit of reading, it showed me this.
"🧱 Does Shape Matter?
Only a little — and more for presentation than classification.
- Cakes can be round, square, layered, cupcakes, bundts, etc.
- Shape does not define whether something is a cake — the ingredients and texture do.
For example, a cake shaped like a loaf is still a cake (like pound cake), and a bread shaped like a cake is still a bread (like banana bread, depending on the recipe).
Summary:
For a dough (or more accurately, a batter) to become a cake, it needs:
- A soft, moist batter (not stiff dough)
- High fat and sugar content
- Chemical leaveners
- A light, tender texture
Shape doesn’t define a cake — the composition and texture do."
So my roll is technically a cake, because I used cake batter, not dough. There is a difference.
That might have been a bit complicated, so I'm going to make it extra, extra short.
Shape doesn't matter. To make a cake, you have to use batter, not dough. Dough is something you can knead; batter is something you can mix.
There, hopefully that's short enough. For those youngsters with short attention spans.
Well, enough of the science stuff; let me show you some positive news to brighten up your day!

When I was in the store with my sister, we were walking past the plushie section, and she just fell in love with this rabbit. Neither of us had any money at the time, so we had to leave. When we got home she wouldn't stop talking about it, how cute it was, and how badly she wanted it. So without much of a plan, the next day I asked her if we could go to the same store to "hang around."
I know it's a bad excuse! I panicked when she asked why I wanted to go! 😭
When we got there, I tried to distract my sister by dragging her to aisles I knew she would be interested in. When I tried to run away, she would follow me, saying we had to "stay together" because it was a big store. I convinced her to stay in her spot, as I said I would check the price of some "markers." What I was actually doing, I was grabbing the bunny and checking the price of that.
150 pesos. ($8.00 for those who won't bother to check)
If I had seen this bunny two weeks ago, that price would've been fine, but now it seemed like a bit much. I quickly counted my money. Damn it, I only had 70 pesos ($3.73 in USD.) I stood there; I was broke as hell, and there was only one bunny left. If I waited another day, I could risk someone else buying it, so you know what I did? I...asked my sister for the money....😔. After a lot of convincing while also trying to hide the fact that I was getting her dream plushie. I got it! 🎉
So I ushered her away (again) and bought the plushie. I shoved it in my purse and bought some candy to distract her from the massive lump in my purse. 😅
When we came home, I hid the bunny under my bed and hoped she wouldn't find it.
Two days later, she was yapping about how cute that bunny was, and I was sweating bullets, one thought rolling through my head: "I ALREADY BOUGHT IT, I ALREADY BOUGHT IT, I ALREADY BOUGHT IT!!"
After a few minutes of this stress, I gave in and showed her my mystery surprise I had been keeping for two days. She screamed so loud when she saw it, I was stunned for a moment. She thanked me over and over again.
Worth every penny.
Well, I hoped you liked the story; here are the results!
